Once a farmer was standing on the bank of a river with a goat, a bunch of grass and a lion. He had to cross the river by boat but the boat was too small that he could not cross at once with all his belongings. If he takes the lion first and leaves him across the river, here the goat will eat the grass and if he takes the grass across the river first, the lion will eat the goat.

Finally he found a solution. He first took the goat along and left it across the river in a boat. After this, in the second round, he left the lion across the river but while returning he brought the goat back with him.

This time he left the goat on this side and left the herd of grass to the lion on the other side. After this he again brought the boat and took the goat as well.

Thus, he crossed the river and did not suffer any loss.

चतुर किसान

एक बार एक किसान एक बकरी, घास का एक गट्टर और एक शेर को लिए नदी के किनारे खड़ा था। उसे नाव से नदी पार करनी थी लेकिन नाव बहुत छोटी थी कि वह सारे सामान समेत एक बार में पार नहीं जा सकता था। वह अगर शेर को पहले ले जाकर नदी पार छोड़ आता है तो इधर बकरी घास खा जाएगी और अगर घास को पहले नदी पार ले जाता है तो शेर बकरी को खा जाएगा।

अंत में उसे एक समाधान सूझ गया। उसने पहले बकरी को साथ में लिया और नाव में बैठकर नदी के पार छोड़ आया। इसके बाद दूसरे चक्कर में उसने शेर को नदी पार छोड़ दिया लेकिन लौटते समय बकरी को फिर से साथ ले आया।

इस बार वह बकरी को इसी तरफ छोड़कर घास के गडर को दूसरी ओर शेर के पास छोड़ आया। इसके बाद वह फिर से नाव लेकर आया और बकरी को भी ले गया।

इस प्रकार, उसने नदी पार कर ली और उसे कोई हानि भी नहीं हुई।
